The baby girl’s remains were found in the backyard of a home on Village Square Drive in East Donegal Township, according to the Susquehanna Regional Police. The Lancaster County Coroner's Office took custody of the body over the weekend and examined the remains earlier this week, Coroner Dr. Steven Diamontoni told WGAL News 8.
The cause of death was extreme prematurity prior to viability, while the manner of death remains undetermined. The remains appeared to have been buried in the yard for several months, Diamontoni told the outlet.
No arrests have been made, but police are actively investigating.
